When Autumn Carpenter stumbles upon the social media account of the family who adopted her infant daughter years ago, she finds herself instantly drawn into their picture-perfect existence.

From behind a computer screen, Autumn watches Grace's every memory, from birthdays to holidays to bedtime snuggles. But what starts as an innocent fascination soon spirals into an addictive obsession that comes to a screeching halt the day the McMullen family closes their Instaface account without so much as a warning.

Frantic and desperate to reconnect with her daughter, Autumn applies for a nanny position with the McMullens, manipulating herself into Grace's life under false pretenses. And it's only then that Autumn discovers pictures lie, the perfect family doesn't exist, and beautiful people? They have the ugliest secrets.

The Memory Watcher (Audible Audio Edition) Minka Kent Sally Vahle Morgan Laure Audible Studios Books

Wow. I was not expecting the depth of this book! Minka Kent's first foray into my favorite genre--psychological thrillers--is an absolute mind bender of a book! The characters were complex, the plot absolutely full of twists, and the creep factor was over-the-moon!

Autumn's stalking of the family who adopted her child is a gut-wrenching and heart-pounding exploration of a very disturbed woman's psyche. Is she a forlorn mother desperate to reconnect with her child? Is she a delusional woman obsessed with a non-existent perfection? Autumn's bizarre fascination and Daphne's constant struggle to maintain her family create the perfect blend of mystery, suspense, and intrigue. The author keeps you guessing, and I never saw the twist coming!

The Memory Watcher (Audible Audio Edition) Minka Kent Sally Vahle Morgan Laure Audible Studios Books Reviews

I *just* finished this novel and although it was OK, I was disappointed with the ending. I had already figured out one of the "twists" and the other one was unexpected but didn't necessarily bowl me over. I enjoyed the back and forth writing style but the plot itself seemed a bit too "Lifetime Movie Network"-ish to me. It kept me entertained, but I guess I just had different expectations.
A debut novel you say? I honestly could not tell. The book grabbed me from the first page and I couldn't wait to see what happened next.
In this day an age where everything is out there for all to see, we show the beautiful perfect highlight reels of our lives. Who needs to see all the flawed parts of us? That's not what everyone wants, right? But what happens when you are mistaken and everything you know turns out to not be what it is? That is this story. We have flaws. We are all imperfect, but no one needs to know that.
"It's always sunny on Instaface, even if that sun is artificial."
Daphne has the "perfect life" with her husband. She is the stay at home mother to 3 children. Everything she does is 'Martha Stewart' perfect. Beautiful home, perfect husband and children that love her. She can do no wrong. FLAWED....
Then we have Autumn. She seems to be a little off from the get go. She is the neighbor that wants the perfect life and so she goes out and gets it. It's easier said than done, but she seems to fill the role of the perfect girlfriend next door. FLAWED....
But all isn't as it seems on the surface. Dig deeper.
"The darkness naturally hides the things we don't want to see."
Looking for something a little twisted and dark and perhaps a bit sinister? Minka developed a great plot with a nice flow to the story. Everything proceeds at a great speed and the characters you want to hate, but can understand them in their own way. They are all put in one another's paths to get to the here and now. The ending could of wrapped up a little bit better, but honestly, it was all a good twist. I would definitely recommend this thriller of a book to someone looking for a little suspense.
This was a fascinating book. Nobody is who they seem to be. The story is told from two viewpoints - one is Daphne, a woman who seems to have everything and the other is Autumn, a woman who has searched desperately for a child she gave up at the age of fifteen.

Daphne is a woman who puts her perfect life out on social media for everyone to see. Her adoring husband, her three perfect children, and her lovely house. Of course, her husband is rich, handsome, a wonderful father, and terribly in love with her. Her children are precocious, well behaved, and darling. And she keeps a perfect house, cooks delicious, healthy meals and and always looks perfect. At least, it seems so.
Autumn comes from a troubled background and tries to model herself on the women she follows on social media. She had been searching for her precious little girl for three years and finally found her. Her precious Grace is Daphne's oldest child. She chooses a boyfriend whose house backs up to Daphne's and moves in with him so she can watch her little girl grow up. But all is not as perfect as it seems. And Autumn is not going to let her little girl grow up in an imperfect home.

Whew! This story kept me going. It twists and turns and twists again. The story moves at a good pace and draws you in, deeper and deeper. It kept me guessing and interested all the way through. As thrillers go, this is a good one! Try it. I think you will like it.
Extremely disjointed story with an abrupt ending that left at least 2 VERY loose ends. The spelling & formatting errors were distracting. The ending was terrible. It was as if the author didn't know how to end the story...I was very irritated when I finished the book!
It was as if the author pieced together Girl on Train with the movie Hand that Rocks the Cradle ala the juvenile writing style of 50 Shades of Grey. The large type print was odd along with the font spacing. Some pages had one sentence on it - in the middle of the page. Several typos too. Clean it up. I liked the cover of the book...that's about it.
Spoiler Alert The story is interesting however the main characters all seem to have severe personality disorders. Their dialogue with one another is always complete lies, to the point that you have no sympathy for any of them and it becomes annoying. It is unrealistic that a woman, much less two in one book, would live her life constantly lying and suppressing her real feelings to her significant other at all times. After investing time in the story, it ends ridiculously and leaves too many loose ends. The entire book is focused around one child's welfare, yet her outcome is failed to even be mentioned at the end of the book.
